Robbie Williams ends album strike

New album from the singer due next year

Robbie Williams has ended his strike against his record label, EMI, and is scheduled to release a new album next year.

The singer's manager, Tim Clark, told BBC Newsbeat that he couldn't guarantee a new album for 2009, but that that was Williams' aim.

In January Robbie Williams threatened to withhold his next album from EMI in protest at the way the label was being run by its owner, Guy Hands. Clark accused Hands of running the label in the style of a "plantation owner".

However, Clark has said that plans are steaming ahead for the release of Williams' eighth studio album, the first since 2006's 'Rudebox'.

"I would certainly hope that a new album will be coming next year," he said. "There are never any guarantees but that's what we would hope.

"I was with Robbie last week. He was at home and writing songs. He played some of them to us. He's in fine spirits, in fine form and I think what he's doing sounds wonderful."

Clark said that rumours that Williams interest in UFOs had inspired the subject matter were "exaggerated".

I pride myself in trying not to comment on bands/artists I hate on here, but this talentless waste of space needs to vanish permanently. Funny how as soon as Guy Chambers stopped writing songs for him and Mr Williams had a go himself his popularity went straight down, Rudebox was without a doubt one of the worst attempts at a pop song ever. I also find it funny how he dissed take thats invation to rejoin and as soon as he lost popularity and they gained it, he suddently wanted to rejoin, but at least they had the balls to say no. UFO's??? Get a grip!!!!

I never like WIlliams but I really went off Williams in a big way for shouting ' I am rich, rich, rich, beyond my wildest dreams' after signing his latest record deal. To the poor kid in the street, that must have been a kick in the balls, fuck off Williams, you are a has-been, Barlow might be fat, but he has more talent in his left bollock than you have in your entire wasted, bloated body. Grow up.

I really can't understand why you lot have to comment - keep away, Robbie is still the best and Rudebox was a fantastic album one of his best, but then he has a number of best albums. If you don't understand Robbie's humour then keep your thoughts to yourselves as you just don't know what you are talking about. There are thousands and thousands of fans that are looking forward to his next album and it will be a sure number one in the charts.Fatty Barlow is a pratt and not a very nice person - can't stand Take That and wish they just ....ss off and go back to where they deserve to be.Looking forward to the new album Robbie - you are the best.
