Foo Fighters are set to take a "long break" from music and have warned fans not to expect a new album any time soon.

Frontman Dave Grohl told BBC Radio 1 DJ Chris Moyles that the band were set to go on hiatus then return with a new sense of purpose further down the line.

"We've never really taken a long break, I think it's time," he said.

The former Nirvana drummer continued: "After doing Wembley [the band played Wembley Stadium on June 6 and 7] we shouldn't come back there for 10 years because we've played to everybody.

"We're over in the UK every year, every summer, so I think it's time to take a break and come back over when people really miss us."

DAVE NOOOOO!!!!, I'd happily watch the foos everynight in concert, if they don't come back for another 10 years and were left with shit like arctic monkeys this is a dark era for music mark my words.

Now its clear to myself and the rest of the people with half a brain..........that the foo's are a f**king brilliant live band.. ok i'd rather see them play smaller gigs in shit clubs in dark citys.. but then you miss the spectacal of seenin some thing truely amazing.. Right on dave!! good idea.. should have done that after the third album and the sound started to hit the same lines .I hope they come back with a whole new set of sounds . Take all the time you want.. Last time i saw the fighters was in 99 and by then i had seen them 3 times with different guitar players and drummers. The foos have got off course with the rule the world goal. they have done that now let him raise his kid and go back to the old foos or come up with something brand new and fresh. It's a long road to ruin

I agree with hness to an extent, Queen are shite. However, Foo's aren't but i think their last album was and i also think it was criminal that it beat KOL beacause of the times to a lot of awards, I think Foo's need to go away and concerntrate on making a decent album and a good return, i think this break is for the best, and for the record i personally thought the Wembley gigs were seriously over-rated, Muse rocked Wembley, Foo's did not, they were freaking awesome at V fest last year though...

I will very much miss the Foo while they are taking a break. I don't think it will be ten years though. But they all do have families Dave has a little daughter shes little cutie from the pictures ive seen. and now is the time they get to have time with there families and go on vacations and just take a break. they've been on the road for the past few years now it's time for a break. I can't wait till they come back though!!! Ill miss them!!! Have fun on your break guys!!! Come back soon!! xoxoxoxoxoxo

Hness - You are a completely deluded waste of space - The Foo Fighters are one of the most influential rock bands of the last decade, if you think they are shit you are more than entitled to your opinion but your comments are unfounded and not backed up at all! How can so many people be wrong about 1 band (we have taste and you do not) you havent even looked past the band and realised that it is made up of 1 of the most talented musicians around today, not only did he play for Nirvana, but Queens of the Stone Age and others. You dont get to iconic status if you are shit (and neither did Freddie for that matter) you jumped up little piece of ass!
